Tom Ford. Just like the menswear is Ford inspired by his work in the 90s for Gucci. With sequins, animal prints and bright colors. What also stands out in this collection - besides the fact that the colors are already standing out - is the bag that Grace Hartzel holds. It says Pussy Power. I think that this reference to the #MeToo discussion. The overall picture is great, the colors, the details with sequins and the animal prints are nice. Ford did a great job on both; menswear and two days later this ready-to-wear collection. It is really a breath of fresh air.
Adam Selman. Just like Tom Ford was this collection outstanding. Bright colors, different textures, and animal prints. His inspiration is clearly from the 70s glam. It was definitely a bold collection. A full red work wears look, colors such as bright yellow, blue, green and red in one blouse, a silk blue jumpsuit. Selman isn't playing with us about experimenting.
Jeremy Scott. Scott knows how to make a playful/sci-fi collection. With metallic silver in different parts of the clothing, the weird pink wig, and the colors. His inspiration came from the movie: The Fifth Element. His collection is definitely fun and playful just like he wanted to.
Jason Wu. Other than the designers above which are really playful, colorful etc. is Jason Wu different. Wu showed New York what elegance is. The collection starts off really calm with black looks with many details. The further you watch the collection how more color there pops in. This gives a really cheerful vibe.
Self-portrait. This collection didn't surprise me at all because I am kinda in love with the designs from Han Chong. His feminine but also urban style really define my own style. This collection shows us a bit of a darker color scheme with leather and silk as textures. I think the collection is about work wear and about being a female boss. The colors and the belts which show the waist off. I really adore this style!
Alexander Wang. Wang did such a great job. I wasn't a fan of his Wangfest from the spring/summer 2018 collection, but this was great. Just like Self-Portrait their where a lot of dark colors and stripes. Something that really stood out in this collection is the fact that Wang used a LOT of zippers on the clothes. Zippers that are going in circles or making other patterns. The models showed us how to wear it like a boss. Alexander Wang did a great job.
Zimmerman. I need to tell you this that this collection almost saved NYFW. Lexi Boling opening the show in snake boots and a corset plus a flowery dress. The colors in this collection have earthy tones, and the sphere that the collection gave me is like the 19th century. It was very 19th-century romance. The collection is maybe not really wearable but it is absolutely stunning on the runway.
Oscar de la Rente. Also, this collection was amazing, I'm almost afraid to write about it because I don't want to say the wrong things haha. The overall collection was a bit oversized but still very feminine. The details were amazing. One of the details were the arms of the blouses were a bit flared at the end which we saw in the street style look from last year.
Marc Jacobs. This collection was very mysterious, as in the big hat that all the mannequins were wearing. The collection shows us a lot of oversized pieces, but mainly oversized coats. In combination with the big hat gives me this a mysterious feeling.
